Reliable Measurement for Power Generation

Power generation facilities depend on accurate temperature measurement for equipment protection, efficiency optimization, and regulatory compliance. From gas turbine compressor discharge to condenser hotwell temperature, every measurement point plays a role in maintaining plant reliability and maximizing heat rate.

Thermometrics manufactures temperature sensors specifically designed for the harsh operating conditions found in combined cycle, simple cycle, coal-fired, and renewable power plants. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system ensures consistent performance across large quantity orders for plant-wide instrumentation upgrades and new construction projects.

High-Vibration Construction

Sensors for rotating machinery feature spring-loaded elements, vibration-dampening mineral insulation, and armor-cabled leads that withstand continuous vibration levels found on turbine-generator sets. Our bearing RTDs are specifically designed to maintain positive thermal contact under vibration per IEEE C57.12 and IEEE 841 requirements.

Plant-Wide Standardization

Thermometrics can supply a complete temperature sensor package for your plant — from turbine bearing RTDs to cooling tower basin thermocouples — under a single purchase order with consistent documentation and calibration standards. Volume pricing available for plant-wide orders.

Power Generation Applications

Our temperature sensors monitor critical equipment throughout the power generation cycle, from combustion and heat recovery through electrical generation and distribution.

Gas Turbines

Compressor discharge, combustion liner, turbine inlet, and exhaust temperature monitoring. Type K and N thermocouples for hot gas path monitoring up to 1100°C. Multi-point thermocouple rakes for turbine inlet temperature profiling to detect combustion anomalies.

Steam Turbines

HP, IP, and LP turbine casing, gland seal, crossover, and exhaust hood temperature monitoring. RTD sensors for bearing pedestal temperature with alarm setpoints per OEM recommendations. Embedded RTDs for stator winding temperature monitoring.

HRSGs & Boilers

Superheater, reheater, economizer, and drum temperature monitoring for heat recovery steam generators and package boilers. High-temperature thermocouples with ceramic protection tubes for furnace zone measurement. Multi-point assemblies for tube metal temperature profiling.

Generators

Stator winding RTDs (6 per phase, 18 total), bearing RTDs, seal oil temperature, and hydrogen cooler monitoring. Embedded RTD elements per IEEE C57.12 with dual-element redundancy for critical protection points.

Cooling Systems

Condenser inlet/outlet, cooling tower basin, circulating water, and auxiliary cooling water temperature monitoring. Immersion RTD probes with thermowells rated for full system pressure. Remote-mount transmitters for long cable runs.

Balance of Plant

Feedwater heater, deaerator, condensate, fuel gas, and HVAC temperature monitoring. Standard industrial RTD and thermocouple assemblies with connection heads, transmitters, and thermowell assemblies.
